Ticino, Switzerland

Ticino is the Italian part of Switzerland that sticks down southwards from the main chain of the Alps towards the North Italian Lakes. It includes the well-known cities of Lugano and Locarno and several valleys north of those cities.

After my tough time on Trip 38 (Les Ecrins), I chose this area because I found several cable-cars and funicular railways to take me up to alpine pastures where I could enjoy the high mountain walks that I prefer.
